Sergio Herrera is Scout Properties’ Principal Broker and Founder. After earning his Master’s Degree in Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University in 2003, Sergio moved to the DC region to work for the National Park Service. Enamored by the city’s history and unique architecture, Sergio transitioned into the real estate world and never looked back. Sergio is a Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA^®).

Sergio resides in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of DC with his husband, two cats and two dogs. During his personal time, Sergio can be found cooling off in swimming holes, socializing with friends at local watering holes and traveling through wormholes. Sergio is an Eagle Scout.

Sergio also has his CMCA accreditation.

Stephen Spencer is a Sales Associate & Senior Property Manager of Scout Properties. Born in New York, Stephen made DC his home after graduating from The George Washington University in 2008 with a major in Sociology. He was drawn to real estate after purchasing and restoring a historic Arts & Crafts style bungalow in 2010. Visiting and listing unique properties in all four quadrants of DC is his favorite part of the job. Stephen currently lives in Hyattsville, Maryland with his wife, two dogs and an adorable giant baby named Alistair. He is an avid cyclist and competitive cyclocross racer.

Kelly serves a vital role with Scout Properties as its lead Sales/Leasing Associate and Transition Coordinator. Catch him if you can, because he is always on the road visiting properties, meeting with new clients and helping prospective tenants find a new place to call home. Kelly moved to DC in 2006 to join Washington, D.C.’s premier contemporary dance company, Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, where he serves dual roles as a dancer and the Associate Artistic Director.  His international performance opportunities with the company through the US Department of State have taken him all over the world, where he uses talent and skills to engage in meaningful cultural exchanges and diplomacy.  Kelly received his Master’s Degree from George Washington University in 2013, while working as adjunct faculty.

Max came to Scout Properties as a business consultant in 2014 and liked it so much he converted to a full-time staff member by the end of the year.  A native of Minnesota, Max was educated at Tulane and Harvard Universities before settling in with his wife in DC.  Max volunteers heavily as a Scout leader and enjoys restoring vintage drums in his spare time. Max also has his CMCA accreditation.

David was born and raised in Northwest Iowa where he eventually moved to Long Island, New York. After high school, David attended The American University in Washington DC, graduating with a degree in International Relations. In his free time, David enjoys cooking delicious meals at home, travelling abroad, and camping on weekends.

Originally from EL Salvador, Karen grew up in Maryland. After graduating High School, she bartended the scenes in Bethesda and moved to DC to bartend some more and manage a couple of restaurants. After a few years working in the hospitality industry, she put her barware away and landed at Scout Properties in 2019.

Karen is a multipotentialite and a quick study. She is currently a Sales/Leasing Agent Scout Properties. 

Tamica was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but raised in Prince George’s County. She moved to the Deanwood neighborhood of Washington DC after getting married. Tamica is a mother to three beautiful daughters and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and playing tennis. She has a passion for Interior Design and Real Estate, so much so that she visits open houses on Sundays….just for kicks.

Ben serves as a Sales/Leasing Associate and a Senior Property Manager for Scout Properties. Born and raised in South Central Pennsylvania, Ben moved to Washington, DC in 2012 to attend The George Washington University, where he majored in Theatrical Design and Dance.  In his free time, Ben works with Washington, D.C.’s premier contemporary dance company, Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, where he serves dual roles as a dancer and the technical coordinator. Ben likes loves pizza.

Mayra enjoys rock-n-rock music, especially the band Mana.

Jordan grew up in a small town in Central New York State. He worked in a restaurant for much of his life there, so he knows how to hustle. He moved to the DMV in 2012 to further his engineering studies, however, he eventually returned to his restaurant roots when he took a position with Amtrak as a chef on long-distance train routes. In 2014, he started a successful short-term rental management company. Jordan continued to work with Amtrak as a train manager until 2017 when he left his job to focus on his business. And now he continues to expand in the industry by teaming with Scout Properties.

JeNard has deep experience in accounting, banking and….music! Originally from Randallstown, Maryland, JeNard attended Morgan State University. JeNard returned to Washington after a career in administrative and financial support in Tallahassee, Florida and Alabama. Jenard is a talented Gospel Music Artist and recently released his debut solo CD. His passions are music and traveling.

Sofie was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent many years in between NYC and the Poconos growing up. She moved to Takoma Park (MD) a few years ago, drawn to the warm sense of community and opportunity. Sofie is a fur mom to her fur baby Bella, a kitty cat.

When not at work enjoys reading historically inaccurate novels, cooking and urban hiking.

Born in Vermont, Nick remained in DC after graduating from The George Washington University in 2020 with a major in International Affairs. After a year and a half of tech sales and cold outreach, Nick found that solving problems through real estate to be much more tangible and rewarding.

When done providing excellent customer service to his tenants, Nick returns to Glover Park to serve his excellence, the cat. He is a basketball fanatic, hot sauce endurer, and listens to every new rap album on Fridays.

Nick is also a seasoned Farmer’s Market manager, so he knows how to tell the good one from the bad ones.

Ryan is local to the DC scene, hailing from Takoma Park.  An avid soccer (futbol!) aficionado, Ryan enjoys moving the ball forward, whether on the pitch or managing projects. A certified personal trainer Ryan still finds the time to meet with his long-time personal training clients. Ryan only wears black.

Andrea is A wife and a mom of 4 amazing children. She was born and raised here in Washington, DC where she currently resides. Andrea enjoy traveling and attending her children extracurricular activities. She also enjoys making personalized glasses, shirts, balloon arrangements & doing day of event coronation.

Former hotelier to property management professional, Cristian brings a wealth of expertise in customer service, sales, and property management.  Proud DC native, he’s a cat-loving foodie who loves to travel and spend time with his cat and family!

Originally from Queens, New York, Tanisha majored in Business Administration at SUNY Albany and has since held various positions in debt consolidation, human resources, hospitality, and STEM education.
